Ofer Laufman

Ofer Laufman is the CEO of Mekorot Development and Initiatives Ltd, a subsidiary of Israel’s Mekorot National Water Company. He oversees the development of new solutions for the global challenges in the water industry and has established projects in India, Africa, Eastern Europe and Central and Latin America for water reclamation, water project engineering, water safety and water quality. The company’s flagship project is the planning and construction of a seawater desalination facility at Ashdod as a turnkey project. This seawater desalination facility will have the capacity to produce 100 million cubic meters of fresh water a year, and will be a major element for solving Israel’s water problems and the implementation of the government’s water policy. Prior to joining Mekorot, Laufman served as Chairman of the Department for Diaspora Activities of the World Zionist Organization (WZO) and as a member of the Board of the Jewish Agency and WZO. He previously held the position as Chairman of the Settlement Division of the WZO. Laufman holds a BA in international relations from Hebrew University and an MA in Public Policy and Management from Haifa University.
